Are fuel cells truly an environmental "free pass"?
People point to fuel cells as the way to a pollution free, greenhouse gas-free future for cars, because a fuel cell's main by-product is water vapor.
But there are sufficient cars today to emit enough gases to change the climate, cause smog etc. What would happen at some point in the future if similar numbers of fuel-cell powered cars were all emitting water vapor? Would the climate become wetter? Would all those fuel cells make the air more humid or make it rain more? Might the resulting clouds affect heat retention and thus global warming?
Also - I assume the water that condenses will be very pure. Might the resulting large amounts of mineral free water affect the salinity and mineral content of ground water?
In other words - are fuel cells truly the road to pollution free motoring, or just the road to a different type of pollution?

Can garter snakes live on cat food?
It's winter here, and I found a very small garter snake in the house, probably brought in with firewood. I'm OK with snakes but because of the heat in the house (?) it's not hibernating anymore and I'm worried that it will have nothing to eat. When I discovered it, it was in the vicinity of the cat's dry food bowl. Can it live on this until spring, as long as the cat doesn't eat it first? I took the last snake I found out to my small, cat-free greenhouse but I'm not sure there is anything for it to eat there either. With 3 feet of snow on the ground I'm hesitant to just put it back outside. Suggestions?
